What brands do you associate with?….taking this in a different direction
Building our own brand and J & J Homestead is important to us because it turns what we’re doing here on our little patch of land into something bigger than ourselves. Our homestead started as a way to live closer to the land—raising backyard chickens, tending honeybees, and growing vegetables to feed our family. But over time, we realized this journey wasn’t just about the chores, the harvest, or even the animals. It was about creating an ideal—a story, a way of life, and a set of values we could share with others.

J & J Homestead isn’t only a name on a sign or a logo on a jar of honey. To us, it represents sustainability, family, and community. It’s the heart behind the work we do. When someone sees our brand, we want them to feel the warmth of a homestead built on care, simplicity, and a love for sustainable living.
Even though we started small, branding gives us a sense of professionalism and shows others that we take what we do seriously. Whether it’s homemade soap, fresh honey from our beehives, or tips on raising chickens, people are more likely to trust it when it comes from a recognizable source. J & J Homestead allows us to share our knowledge and products with confidence, while still keeping everything personal and authentic.

Creating a homestead brand also gives us room to dream big. Right now, it might be local markets, blog posts, and sharing photos of daily life on the homestead. But in the future, it could be workshops, books, or new product lines. A strong brand lays the foundation for all of that growth—it creates recognition, and with recognition comes opportunity.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the community we’ve built along the way. By presenting J & J Homestead as a brand, we’re not just sharing what we do—we’re inviting others in. Friends, followers, and fellow homesteaders become part of the story. Together, we trade knowledge, offer support, and celebrate each other’s milestones.
Seasons change, flocks grow, and gardens come and go. But a brand carries forward. By creating J & J Homestead as both a brand and an ideal, we’re shaping something lasting. It’s not just about what we’re doing now—it’s about leaving behind a legacy of simple living, hard work, and community for the future.
At its core, creating J & J Homestead as a brand is about more than marketing. It’s about capturing the heart of our lifestyle and sharing it with others in a way that inspires trust, connection, and maybe even a little spark for someone else to start their own journey. If our story encourages just one more person to plant a garden, keep chickens, or chase their homesteading dream, then this brand will have done exactly what we hoped it would.
