There are mornings on the homestead that feel a little more magical than others—and today was one of them.

After weeks (and honestly, months) of preparation, planning, building, baking, and dreaming, our J & J Homestead farmstand is officially open. And what a beautiful, exciting, and unforgettable start it has been.

Up Before the Roosters: The Reality of Opening Day

Long before the sun even thought about rising, we were already moving.

We got up well before the roosters, fueled by equal parts excitement and nerves. Opening day isn’t just about putting products on a shelf—it’s about presenting everything you’ve worked for in a single moment.

The early morning hours were filled with:

  • Labeling every baked good with care
  • Double-checking ingredients and presentation
  • Packing everything into the truck
  • Making sure nothing (and I mean nothing) was forgotten

There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing everything come together after so much behind-the-scenes work.

Stocking the Farmstand: Bringing the Vision to Life

Pulling up to the farmstand this morning felt surreal.

This little building that started as an idea—just a dream we talked about—was now ready to welcome customers.

We carefully stocked the shelves with:

  • Fresh baked goods like apple fritter bread, muffins, cookies, and cinnamon rolls
  • Farm-fresh eggs
  • Honey from our own hives

Every item represents a piece of our homestead. Every label, every jar, every loaf tells a story.

And for the first time… it was all out there, ready to be shared.

The Best Part: Community Showing Up

If there was one moment that truly made this morning special, it was this:

People showed up.

Not just customers—but friends.

Having some of our dear friends stop by the farmstand meant more than I can fully put into words. We were able to:

  • Give a small tour of the homestead
  • Share the story behind J & J Homestead
  • Talk about what’s coming next

It was a reminder that homesteading isn’t just about growing food—it’s about building community.

And today, that community showed up for us.

The Mix of Emotions: Excitement, Relief, and Gratitude

Opening day is a strange mix of emotions:

  • Excitement for what’s ahead
  • Relief that everything came together
  • Gratitude for the support around you

There were so many moments leading up to today where I wondered:
“How did I get myself into this?”

But standing there this morning, watching the farmstand come to life, I realized:

This is exactly where we’re meant to be.

What Comes Next for the Farmstand

While today marks the beginning, it’s really just the first chapter.

In the coming weeks, we’ll continue to expand what we offer, including:

  • Seasonal vegetables from the garden
  • Seedlings and plants
  • More baked goods and homestead products

The farmstand will grow as the homestead grows—and we can’t wait to share that journey with you.

Back to Reality… The Kitchen Cleanup

And now?

After all the excitement, all the energy, and all the joy of this morning…

It’s time to head back inside and clean the kitchen.

Because if there’s one thing homesteading teaches you, it’s this:

The work doesn’t stop—but neither does the reward.

Thank You for Being Part of Our Journey

Whether you stopped by today, supported us from afar, or are simply following along online—thank you.

This farmstand is more than a place to buy eggs or baked goods.
It’s a reflection of our journey, our values, and our commitment to living this life fully.

And we’re just getting started.
