Announcing My New Homesteading Podcast: Why I’m Excited to Share This Journey With You

If you’ve been following along with our homesteading journey, you know that I love sharing the stories, challenges, lessons, and little everyday joys that make this lifestyle so meaningful. And now, I’m thrilled to announce that I’m taking all of that storytelling to a brand-new place:

I’m launching a homesteading podcast!

This project has been a dream in the making, and I finally decided that now is the time to bring it to life. The podcast will be a space where I can share everything happening here at J & J Homestead — from chickens and ducks to gardening and beekeeping, from seasonal chores to the funny mistakes and heartfelt moments that make homesteading what it is.

But more importantly, it will be a place where you can learn alongside me.

Why Start a Podcast? Because Homesteading Is Better When Shared

Homesteading is full of stories — the kind you can’t always tell in a quick Instagram caption or blog post. There are moments that deserve a conversation. Lessons that deserve reflection. And sometimes, you just need a place to laugh about the things that didn’t go as planned.

A podcast gives me the opportunity to go deeper. To talk through the why, the how, and the what-on-earth-just-happened moments that make this life so wonderfully unpredictable.

I also wanted a place to bring people into the homestead. A place where listeners could feel like they’re walking through the garden with me, checking on the chickens at sunrise, preparing for winter storms, or discovering new lessons buried in everyday chores.

Homesteading can feel solitary, but it doesn’t have to be. Through this podcast, I hope to build a community of people who are curious, inspired, and ready to grow right alongside me.

Behind the Scenes: Learning the Technology (and Laughing at Myself)

Let me tell you… starting a podcast has been an adventure all on its own. I went into this thinking, “I talk all the time! How hard can this be?”

Turns out, there’s a lot more to podcasting than hitting the record button.

I’ve been learning everything from:

  • how to make sure the microphone actually picks up my voice instead of the chickens in the background,
  • how to reduce the echo from my recording space,
  • how to edit audio without deleting the entire episode by mistake,
  • how to blend in music so it enhances the story and doesn’t sound like I’m being swallowed by it,
  • and how to keep the recordings sounding clean, warm, and professional.

It is absolutely a whole new world of sliders, waveforms, audio levels, fade-ins, fade-outs, and “why is that button blinking at me?” moments.

But honestly? I’m loving every second of learning this new skill.

Just like homesteading, podcasting is trial and error. You try something, adjust, try again, and eventually find your rhythm. And even when I mess something up — which I definitely have — I just remind myself that this whole journey is about growing.

What You Can Expect From the Podcast

The podcast will be a blend of storytelling, practical information, seasonal tips, behind-the-scenes moments, and plenty of humor.

Some episodes will explore the realities of daily homestead chores…
others will dive into specific topics like winter chicken care, gardening techniques, beekeeping adventures, or lessons I’ve learned the hard way.

And of course, I’ll be sharing the things that don’t go as planned, because those stories are often the most relatable — and the most fun.

My hope is that every episode leaves you feeling inspired, encouraged, or at the very least, entertained.

Stay Tuned — I’m Just Getting Started!

I’m still recording episodes, shaping the structure, finding my voice (literally and figuratively!), and learning more every day. But each step brings me closer to releasing something I am truly excited about.

This podcast is a new chapter for J & J Homestead — a way to connect more deeply, share more fully, and grow a community of curious, kind, and homestead-loving people.

Thank you for being here, for cheering me on, and for coming along with me on every adventure — big or small.

Coming in January! Stay tuned… wonderful things are on the way!
